The Orneta winery was founded in 2013. The farm is located in Orneta, an Arianese district of great value. It also tells a family story: the one of the Pannese, Pizzano and Cerullo, which cultivated the land with passion for three generations. Their practice is to use traditional production techniques that were handed down over time. However, these techniques were updated with technological innovation to offer high quality standards and represent the company’s current mission. The protection of the environment and the territory is equally important in order to conserve the local culture and traditions. Irpinia, close to Orneta, is the central-eastern area of the Apennine ridge, which stretches between the river Sabato, the Calore and the Ofanto. It represents a strategic geographical position, as a hinge territory between the Adriatic and the Tyrrhenian Sea. The vineyards coexist with fruit trees that give great emotions to the wine.
Orneta owns 20 hectares of vineyards in the most desirable areas of Irpinia with 5 different types of grapes grown. These include Taurasi Docg, which is a grape with a controlled and guaranteed denomination of the “Taurasi” origin . It is produced using grapes from vineyards producing the Aglianico grape which is of great tradition. Greco di Tufo Docg is a wine that was imported from Thessaly and was first spread in Vesuvius and then in Irpinia. The grape is formally called Aminea twin because it often develops double bunches. It produces a white wine with great aging capacity and intense, continuous, and sweet aromas. The third, Fiano di Avellino Docg, has an unknown history but is most likely of Roman origin. In addition, Irpinia Aglianico Doc is a grape with great tradition and probably has its origins in Greece. Lastly, Campania Falanghina Igt is a white grape that was already known in Roman times. With this combination of grapes Orneta offers an interesting and amazing range of red and white vines. Additionally, they have olive trees which produce high quality olive oil.
