Pierpaolo Pecorari
About

Azienda Agricola Pierpaolo Pecorari is a family owned and operated estate located in the municipality of San Lorenzo Isontino in the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The strong bond between the Pecorari family and this land dates centuries back to a time beyond memory but the estate officially established in the seventies by Pierpaolo Pecorari.
The vineyards are in the villages of San Lorenzo Insontino, Moraro, Mossa, Corona, and Capriva del Friuli and are planted on gravelly limestone soils at 60 meters above sea level. They are planted with the varieties Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, Merlot, Friulano, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. Since 2007 the winery has been officially certified as an organic farm.
All of the grapes are hand-harvested and the picking decision is made on the basis of their taste. The grapes are vinified in stainless steel using indigenous yeasts. Whites are invariably aged in stainless steel tanks on the lees with monthly batonnage to add richness to the wine. The reds are also vinified in stainless steel but are mostly aged in barriques. They offer many different wines grouped into two categories that are Selezioni e Cru and Vini Classici.
