The Poggio le Volpi winery is located in Monte Porzio Catone, near Rome and was founded in 1996. Mario Mergè began to cultivate vines and produce wine in the late ’20s and has passed on his passion to his son Armando, who eventually replaced him at the helm of the company and then sold it in turn to his son Felice, As they state on their website “If I look backwards I see hard-working hands, my grandfather’s tales, my father’s secret”. Poggio le Volpi has established itself over the years as a leading producer of niche wines, primarily using traditional indigenious varieties such as Malvasia Bianca di Candia, Malvasia del Lazio and Trebbiano. The Poggio Le Volpi estate covers about 30 acres of land, and for the most part turned towards the south, are located between the slopes of Monte Porzio Catone and the Roman countryside, a rich and generous land with flourishing agriculture and particularly foxes.
