Castello Romitorio was founded in 1984 by the artist Sandro Chia whose goal it was to study, explore and promote Brunello di Montalcino wine. The winery owns vineyards in Montalcino and close to the Tyrrhenian Sea. The business is family owned and now managed by Sandro’s son Filippo. After he joined the business, started a process of profound renewal of the wines and winemaking style, betting on the very elegant single varietal Sangiovese to illustrate the characteristics of the territory. The hard work paid off and now after thirty years Castello Romitorio is an internationally recognized winery that specialises in Sangiovese and Brunello di Montalcino. The family-owned winery is committed to tradition and the pursuit of excellence, through classic style and innovation.
The wines produced are fresh and fruity, incredibly fragrant, moderately alcoholic and of unequalled refinement, with a salty note and a dynamic, vivacious character. The soil creates a unique microclimate that produces refined, elegant wines that express the versatility and multifaceted nature of the Sangiovese grape. In total the winery offers eight different wines that are mostly red.
