The winery Lazzartti Marco has been in business since 1998 and is located at Podere Canchi, below the hill of Montalcino on the northern Siena side, near La Fortuna. The first vineyard was planted in 1981 by Marco and Lucia’s grandfather Pietro Bastiani. In 1998, just as Marco had finished his military service, his grandfather asked him if he would like to take over the estate, and overcoming his initial doubts, Marco agreed. At that time there was only 1ha of planted vineyards. In 1998 Marco planted another 4 hectares of vineyards. In 2014 the production came from 5 ha of vineyards. The soil is described as “tufaceo argilloso ricco in scheletro”. The first grape harvest was in 2001.
Lazzartti Marco offers three different wines which are: Rosso di Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino, and Brunello di Montalcino Riserva. The first is described as a young wine, pleasant but nervous, the second as important and elegant, and the last one as emotional, persuasive, and intriguing.
